AILG Financial Study

In 2009, the AILG conducted a Financial Study to help provide data that may assist AILG members in making informed decisions about the operation of their individual houses. This data included both operating expense data as well as comparative housebill data, aimed at helping to answer questions such as:

Housebill Analysis - 2009

The results of last year's 2009 Housebill Survey (for which we had excellent participation - almost all houses participated) have been distributed to each house's online FCI document locker, which you can find by logging in at: http://inside.fsilg.coop (If you are unsure of your username / password, contact Scott Klemm at s k l e m m (at) fsilg.coop.) Located in the "Other Documents" section of your locker you should find:

Online Housebill Survey - 2010

To build upon the success of last year's Housebill Survey and Analysis, and to continue to build historical trend information that will be useful to all members, a simple online Housebill Survey is being conducted again this year, and can be found here: 2010 Online Housebill Survey .

We encourage each AILG member organization to complete and submit this survey online as soon as possible. As a thank-you for submitting the survey, we intend to again provide a personalized report that compares your organization's data to that of the AILG community, including trend information. To find out if your organization has submitted the survey this year, contact survey coordinator Rich Possemato (p o s s e (at) alum.mit.edu).

Operating Expense Analysis - 2009

A preliminary analysis of FSILG operating expense data has been performed using FY2007 data (with some historical comparisons to FY06 and FY05). An electronic version of this very informative report will be placed in your online (password protected) FCI locker (coming Spring 2010). We are also hoping to update this analysis periodically with the addition of new year data.

Long-Term Maintenance Funding Study

The Finance Committee is hoping to conduct a study of what member organizations are doing to set-aside funds for long-term maintenance / capital improvement. A goal being to help identify "best practices" and perhaps some sort of financial model that can help member organizations be thoughtful about financial planning for long-term maintenance and capital needs. If you have suggestions or requests regarding this study, please contact Karl Büttner (k b u t t n e r (at) alum.mit.edu), AILG Finance Committee Chairman.

Data Privacy

Information produced and shared as part of this Financial Study will only be presented anonymously and will not be identified by specific house.
